How does an online auction work?
All art pottery items included in the online auction are photographed and complete condition descriptions are prepared as part of the online catalog. Typically each internet pottery auction will last somewhere between 10 and 21 days so be sure to look at the terms for each sale for specific start and end times.

The bidding on each lot is done by a registered bidder entering an opening bid and subsequent bidders entering increasingly higher bids until the final bid is made. Internet bidding works just like a traditional auction except you are bidding from your computer rather than live at the auction house.

During the auction you are not only able to place bids on items of interest but you are able to see photos and descriptions of each lot up for bid, the current high bid, and the required next bid, for each item. After the auction ends the winning bidder is contacted via email with instructions for making payment. After payment has been received Just Art Pottery will safely and cost effectively ship your art pottery purchase to you.

How do I register to bid?
In order to register to bid you will need provide your contact information and a valid credit card. You will also have to read, understand and agree to our terms and conditions. You can complete your registration online.

Do I need to register for each sale?
No, once you are registered for a Just Art Pottery auction you do not need to re-register. You be able to sign in and register for future auctions using your username and password.

Do you guarantee the condition of your items?
If you have participated in many online or live auctions you know most auction houses have an "as-is, where-is" policy which basically means buyer beware in all circumstances. At Just Art Pottery we take pride in providing you a safe and fun environment to purchase art pottery online. To that end we offer the following condition guarantee. Art pottery described as mint condition is represented as being free of damage including cracks, chips, hairlines and repairs. The item may contain normal crazing, minor scuff marks, scratches, dirt, minor factory irregularities such as base flakes from grinding, clay separations, glaze/color skips, kiln flaws and stilt marks. Any factory flaws that are in our opinion significant will be noted. All sizes are approximate.

Do I have to pay a fee to participate in an online auction?
There is no fee to participate in an online auction. However, there is a 15% buyers' premium added to the winning bid that is payable as part of the total purchase price. For example the total purchase price of an items selling for $100 would be $115 plus any other applicable fees such as shipping and taxes.

When will my items ship?
Items will ship within one week of receipt of payment. If payment was made by check, please allow additional time for your payment to clear before your art pottery will ship.

Do you ship items?
Just Art Pottery Auctions does offer shipping for all items sold. UPS is our preferred shipper. However, we can accommodate other shipping requests but associated additional costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. As an example we have a daily UPS pickup at our business. We do not have USPS pick up at our facility so USPS packages will include an additional handling fee.

Do you accept consignments?
We are always seeking art pottery consignments. Please look at the How to Sell and Why Sell With Us sections of the website for detailed information on consigning art pottery to one of our upcoming live internet auctions. In addition to consignment opportunities in our live internet auctions, we offer a variety of other sale options to ensure maximum exposure and realized value for your art pottery items. How long do I have to pay for my items after the auction ends?
Payment is required within ten (10) days after the end of the auction. Please review the auction terms carefully to be sure you understand all deadlines. Any item not paid for in full by the stated payment deadline will be automatically charged to the credit card on file for your bidder number. If a credit card is invalid or cannot be charged for any reason, Just Art Pottery reserves the right to void the sale and deny the bidder participation in future auctions. How long do I have to arrange shipment or pick-up of my items?

Items must be shipped with twenty-one (21) days after the end of the auction. Ownership of any item not removed by the stated pick-up deadline will automatically revert to the Seller unless other arrangements have been.

What are bid increments?
A bid increment is the minimum amount required to raise the bid. For example, if the current bid on an item is $100, you must bid at least $110 to raise the bid. Bid increments are set at $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $25.00, $50.00, $100.00, $250.00, and $500.00 based on the current bid level. You may not bid in increments smaller than the set bid increment for an item.

What if I change my mind after bidding?
By bidding on an item you are creating an enforceable contract. The terms of use on our site prevent retraction of a bid once it has been submitted. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding. If you are in doubt about an item please do not bid.

Do I have to pay sales tax?
Unless noted otherwise all auctions require Illinois residents without a valid resale number to pay sales tax. If you are exempt from Illinois sales tax, please complete the appropriate form and fax or email it to our office prior to bidding. It is Bidder's responsibility to ensure that we have the correct form on file before payment is made.

What is the automatic bid time extension feature and how does it work?
The automatic bid time extension feature automatically extends the closing time of the item by five minutes if a bid is received in the last five minutes of the sale. If three minutes before the item is to close, another bid is received that item's end time will automatically be extended another five minutes. Once five minutes have passed without any additional bidding, the item will close for bidding. This feature allows all bidders an equal opportunity to be continue in the bidding process if they desire.

How do I determine if I am the high bidder?
The high bidder during and after the auction is always displayed on the auction page. After the auction has closed you can check the results on the auction results page. We will send your invoice by e-mail within two days of completion of the auction.

If you are winning bidder on an item, your bidder ID will appear as high bidder in the bidding screens and detail page for that item. If you are outbid during the auction you will receive an email notifying you of a higher bid. However, a significant amount of bidding takes place in the last minutes of the auction and you can't rely on outbid emails to keep you updated on lots of interest. If you really want an item you need to be sure to leave your maximum bid or actively participate in the bidding process until your item ends.

Can I cancel an unwanted bid?
Once your bid is entered we can't change or delete your bid. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding. If you are in doubt about an item please do not bid. Please be sure to review your bids thoroughly to prevent entering a bid in error.

What if I cannot bid online?

In addition to online bidding Just Art Pottery offers phone and absentee bidding support. If you find an item you are interested in bidding on but prefer not to bid online for whatever reason feel free to contact us at 309-690-7966 to register and submit your bid.

What are the presale estimates?
Presale estimates, when provided, are our opinion of the price that a willing buyer may pay for the art pottery at auction, based on prices paid for comparable items sold in the past. Presale estimates are not a representation or prediction of the actual selling price that will be realized at any particular auction, post-auction sale, or upon resale. Actual sale prices may vary substantially from these estimates. We shall not be liable in any way for such a difference.
