Don Reitz Studio Art Pottery Brown Stoneware Ribbed Handled Ceramic Covered Jar Good sized hand made covered and handled form and nice mottled brown glaze by Don Reitz. Excellent original condition. No chips, cracks, damage or repair of any kind. Bottom marked with Reitz. Jar is 5 1/4" tall and 10" wide at the handles. Guaranteed original and direct from the estateof a recognized studio potter andinstructor. Don Reitz (1929-2014) of Clarkdale, AZ earned his MFA at Alfred University in 1962, where he began experimenting with salt-glazing. This firing technique allowed the clay to keep its natural character, and its malleability did not obscure the creator’s hand. He spent many years as an educator as well as a potter and taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for over 25 years before retiring as a professor emeritus in 1988.
