Lanier Meaders Georgia Southern Art Pottery Hand Made Crafted Stoneware Face Jug Highly collectible and early Lanier Meaders Georia pottery hand made double face stoneware jug. Nice color and glaze. Excellent condition. Factory firing flaws to base and one ear as shown. No chips, cracks, damage or repair of any kind. Bottom marked with Lanier Meaders. Jug is 9" tall and 8 1/2" wide from ear to ear. The Meaders family pottery was founded by John Milton Meaders in 1893 in Mossy Creek, Georgia. He began the family face jug production making 1000s in addition to a full line of functional pottery. They were one of the first families in which females took up the art of folk pottery.
